Great croissants with parmazan!

Never open. Stopped by one hour before closing and doors were shut. Every other spot was bustling but they don't give. Business only when they want it.

Great food, great prices, great service!

I am a huge fan of Eggs Benedict and to my surprise Bears Coffee now serves it on weekends only. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Salmon and it was delicious ($14.95).The pieces of salmons were nice and thick and not over done and the Hollandaise sauce did not taste like your normal out of the package. They make it fresh (note: if you are planning to go for this dish you may want to call in advance as the Hollandaise does run out quick). Another favrorite and in my opinion a must order is the Mexican Coffee!!! The only downside is that they stop serving breakfast at 10am so try and avoid going too late.

I enjoyed the bean burrito, I never had a burrito like that before just with beans and cheese - very filling and tasty. Shot in the dark coffee beverage was very good too.

This place has been here forever. It is a local favorite spot. Their waffles are AMAZING but pastries are store bought (costco muffins). It is small inside so very hard to accommodate groups of 5 or more. More adult place to hangout.

Hadn't gone to a coffee shop in a long time, I'm sad to say this wasn't enjoyable, straight off, why Costco pastries.. and the Mexican coffee not really your fault,I guess, but I really don't enjoy hot milk and cinnamon. I expected better, my bad.

I don't like to write bad reviews. But...I saw 3 live roaches inside the restaurant of varying sizes and breeds and a giant squished one on the patio. I know roaches are a thing in Hawai'i, but I wouldn't expect them in a restaurant. Everytime I hit a crusty, dry chunk of beans in my breakfast burrito, I wondered if maybe one of those little guys snuck into my food. I thought to myself "Well, ignorance can be bliss right? Maybe if I eat fast enough, I won't dwell on that possibility." That is, until I saw one scurry on my table and up a wall. That's when I called it quits, paid and left.Props though for showing a varied example of the islands amazing fauna.

We read a few reviews on this place and thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did!!! I ordered the Works breakfast sandwich and it was as good as any breakfast sandwich I've had. My wife got the ham, egg and cheese sandwich. Both came on an English muffin with a thick slice of cream cheese. The coffee was really good too. We were in a rush to see the nearby waterfalls so we ordered it to go. Very nice and friendly staff.

We stopped through HIlo before going up to Waipio Valley and found this cafe. Its small and when we went they were backed up so it took a bit to get our food. We order the ham sandwich, turkey sandwich, and veggie wrap. It was definitely worth the wait! The sandwich was delicious but the macroni salad was a show stopper. It was such a great find!

Open Breakfast , lunch. Great soup. Was there 3 times all ways good . Hope to go agen . Pulled pork sandwich, mmmmmmm!!!

This was a truly delicious local coffee/diner experience. Biscuits and gravy for $10 is enough for two unless you are part lumberjack or live at the gym. Really friendly staff and a nice convenient DT Hilo location. Recommended.

Portions of food are huge and breakfast is good here. Woman working there is not very friendly. We felt like shee was annoyed that we came in and sat down...Beware of attitude here.

There is a tradition in Hilo everyone loves it and you'll love it too.

Bear's is... odd. It seems to run by the seat of its pants and a supernatural force of will. They seem plagued by numerous problems every time I visit. No half and half, only mini-moos, which is ok but so much plastic waste! They often ring me up incorrectly, and never in my favor, LOL. Their espresso us good but rough.

Great salmon sandwich/burger! And the mac salad they served...mm-mm!! Awesome lunch. Only think I wished was that my hot chocolate was creamy, it was more water than chocolate. Otherwise, staff so nice!

Loved it all. Lovely ladies with excellent service. Coffee was good, breakfast was good and as a result went back 3 days in a row!

Only in for coffee and brownies both excellent. They also had good range of tea with two green tea options. Like most things in Hilo everything is relaxed. Cost is very reasonable. Staff very nice good for a laugh as it should be.

Enjoyed the Kona coffee and Eggs Benedict served with fresh fruit. Nice way to start my day of traveling the island.

Nice little coffee shop.

One of the sweetest breakfast places. It has been around for decades, I’ve been going here since I was 6! Waffles are a must. Hot chocolate or coffee is great!

This is a great little mom and pop shop that you must eat at while in Hilo. Cash only so be ready for that.

Forwhat I had it was ok. There were things other people ordered (that I sampled) that were great!!! The coffe was amazing and the service was wonderful and fast. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. Let me preface this with the fact that I grew up in Georgia (the south) where biscuits and gravy is one of the most popular foods. The gravy here was absolutely delicious and honestly I could eat it by the spoonful. I was not happy with the biscuit personally. I thought it had more of a cornbread flavor and a very dry and crumbly texture. The disappointment is more on me for expecting it to be a soft buttermilk biscuit instead if what I got.

This has to be the best breakfast place that I have found in Hilo and reasonably priced at that. Thourghly enjoyed my breakfast which was fresh and hot. Portions were just right and and price points were fair especially for a tourist town and area. The Mexican Coffee was very good as well. It is a small location, so seating is limited, but worth the wait to enjoy their fantastic food.

Had a great latte here on the way to zip lining. Really nice place for some go juice.

Certainly come here for the coffee. Less so for the food, although the waffles are a specialty and done OK. They don’t have a grill, so eggs and bacon are microwaved and aren’t very good. Up-charge for added ingredients on eggs is ludicrous for what they actually add. Restrooms are in the back and kitchen didn’t appear very clean. We’d swing by for coffee again, but never for the the food.

Good food ,service was very friendly. Parking was kinda difficult,but found a public parking lot near by.

Was craving some comfort food while on vacation, decided to stop by after hearing about the biscuits & gravy. Got the half order & it was an ENORMOUS amount of food still, super delicious & relatively cheap. Wish I had visited earlier!

Good breakfast fare. Big portions.

Service is good. Had dry hashbrowns. Inedible. Came back another day thinking it was a fluke. Hashbrowns still dry. Ate them anyway whatever. Got a bagel with avocado. Avocado was hard and not ripe enough to eat. Ill pay money for these things today but Im not coming back.

Amazing fluffy waffles! Eggs were souffle style, delish. The breakfast burrito was huge. Good coffee in big cups. This little hole in the wall was a real find.

LORD the coffee here is choice. And the portion sizes are awesome. I hang out here a lot and you should too
